TOP COMPASS AGENT IAN SLATER GIVES US A LOOK INSIDE A MODERN TRIBECA MASTERPIECE

After a million-dollar-plus renovation, a Tribeca loft located at 408 Greenwich Street Unit 6 with unparalleled design has just hit the market for $11,950,000. The highly distinguished firm Voorsanger Architects transformed this once standard airy loft into a modern marvel with an edge.

When the owner returned to New York after spending time overseas, he realized he wanted to transform the loft he purchased into an "event." With a deep appreciation for design and art, he was naturally very involved in the renovation. Voorsanger Architects soon realized their client was willing to take risks and hoped for a finished product entirely out of the ordinary.

Compass agent Ian Slater, who is marketing the listing and has worked in the luxury real estate industry in New York City for years, has never seen a home quite as architecturally significant as this one. The brilliant masterpiece features a 50-foot limestone wall that wraps around the entryway and living area. This unique aspect links all of the spaces together and creates a visual path throughout the apartment.

"This is a one-of-a-kind renovation by Voorsanger Architects, a design firm that has done essentially no private homes. It gets thrown around a lot that apartments are ‘works of art,’ but this is genuinely a crafted gem, with the architect's unique touches in every inch," said Ian.

"I have never seen the floors, which are wenge, imported from Africa or the depth of the use of limestone here, which extends from the walls to the window ledges. Every single piece was hand-chosen and will never be able to be replicated."

With only the utmost thought and attention to detail, Voorsanger Architects created a desk from a slab of steel coated in white enamel that protruded out of the office wall. While working with Voorsanger, the owner fell in love with the different dimensions and geometric angles that highlight the muted abstract design in the loft.

Ian noted that, "Another incredible feature is just the depth of the 'angle' motif that the architect created – there are floating ceilings and walls that all echo the same design motif."

The home is full of hidden surprises. "Upon first look, the home has no televisions. They are hidden in the ceiling and come down when you want to view," Ian explained.

Another bespoke aspect of this home is the enormous primary bedroom with a custom acid-treated metal wall. This incredibly distinctive loft also features a breathtaking Dr. Caligari-style entrance and a private home gym.

"The furniture in the apartment is all 100 percent custom, designed by the architect. It quite literally fits the space perfectly. So for the buyer coming to town who wants a perfect, turnkey residence and can bring only their toothbrush – this is it."
